Well I’ve been tagged with a meme by Nick. There was something said about an “autobiographical widget™” but I’ve no idea what that is. Anyways, here’s the deal:
Books are scarce in the world. They are illegal in some provinces. They are not easily replaced if not impossible to replace if lost in many if not most circumstances. If you can replace a book or buy one it is usually through the black market at astronomical costs that you cannot afford. Yet you have been able to maintain one of the best collections in the world. If your entire library was about to burn up (think of the firefighters in Fahrenheit 451 invading your home) and you could only have one* book to take with you other than the bible, what would that be and why?
Simple Rules
Answer the question. Offer one quote that resonates with you. Tag five people whose response is of genuine interest to you and inform him or her that they have been tagged. Cheers!*And it cannot be an entire series of something, that’s cheating.
This is pretty easy for me to answer. I’ve been drooling over this luxurious copy of my favorite story ever written for a long time, so if I had to choose only one book it would be the 50th Anniversary Leather Bound Edition of The Lord of the Rings. I can’t think of anything else that comes close so I’ll leave it at that. Here’s one of my favorite quotes, though there are lots of them:
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost.
I’m not sure that more than five people even read my blog, so I’m going to have to tag anyone who has posted here recently. That said, I tag: the mysterious tc, Bryan, Mike, Matthew, and ElShaddai.

Well, I was tagged by you and ElShaddai, which pretty much means I have to do this
I will get around to it pretty soon, so keep an eye out (although, looking at my books, I may have to take the coward’s way out, “I don’t know!”).

It’s an “autobiographical widget”. I would hate for Dawkins to be so proud of his term

I’m not sure if I cheated because I don’t actually own a paper copy of LOTR at the moment. I have all of the collector’s DVDs but I just returned my borrowed copy of the trilogy to my father. I have tentative permission from my wife to buy the copy linked above in the near future so hopefully this will be a reality in the future. Not saying I want my house to burn down, but that um, well you get the idea.
