Well I’ve read the intro to my first Greek grammar. I would have started the first lesson yesterday but I’ve been busy with family, reading Fee’s NT Exegesis, and uploading our vast music collection to the computer for my wife’s new iPod. Speaking of… can someone point me to the iTunes U material for Greek classes?
Also, in honor of my official Greek kick off, I’ve added George’s blog to the roll. It’s called σφοδρα – exceedingly. He is pretty hard core on language study so check him out if that’s your thing.

Congrats! Which grammar are you using again?
BTW, I just read the intro to my Hebrew grammar tonight, and Lesson I, but I haven’t done the excercises yet.

Hmm, maybe I need to make another post on my plan. I’m doing the first half of Dobson’s Learn NT Greek, followed by Mounce’s BBGG, and wrapping up with the last half of Dobson. I may do Dobson completely if I can follow it, but that is the plan so far. I’ve been temporarily delayed because my dad lent me Fee’s NT Exegesis and I’ve been unable to put it down.
I’m starting to realize that I don’t enjoy textual criticism; but exegesis is right up my alley. Also, the thing I hate most about learning Greek is the grammar, probably because I hate English grammar as well.

Yeah, textual criticism is for a certain kind of person. I tried getting into it, but in the end I couldn’t do it. Exegesis however is for everyone!

I don’t know if this will help but here are two posts from Stefan that I remember seeing:

How do you like Fee’s book? I’m reading his commentary on Philippians right now and really like his style.

Well there have been some blogs going around about top 10 greatest scholars or whatever.
Fee has definitely been the most influential read so far. I read his How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth and now his New Testament Exegesis. Both are outstanding and my father says his other stuff is just as good.
Thanks for the links. I’ve got about half our CDs imported to iTunes so I probably won’t get to anything else until tomorrow. Since I’m just feeding CDs into my computer I’ll probably review another book.

Thanks for the plug.
Just off-hand, I’m studying Greek using “Greek – An Intensive Course” from Fordham University Press. It’s primarily Classical, rather than Koine, but I haven’t been disappointed with it.
Now if I can just get past the Greek passive tense…

Voice. Passive voice.

Once I get through NT Greek I am hoping to expand a bit into the LXX and even earlier Greek. Not sure how far back into the classics I want to go however.
I also want to learn Latin and Hebrew but time quickly becomes a factor. Priority-wise I should probably learn NT Greek and go straight to Hebrew, but who knows what the future holds?

George, did anyone ever tell you that your avatar looks like Gordon Freeman?

Nope, you’re the first.
